St Andrew's Church • East Walton

The ruins of St Andrew's can just be seen from the churchyard of St Mary's.

The church of St Andrews dates to the early 12th century and was within a manor complex owned by the abbey at West Dereham. From the 13th century the revenue from St Andrews had merged with that of neighbouring St Mary's and was going to the priory at West Acre, who owned the adjacent manor.

It seems that St Andrew's fell out of use as a place of worship at the Reformation and although the building found purpose in other ways for a few hundred years, it was ruinous by the 1840s.

The ruins are also home to a socket stone of a medieval standing cross and both are now Grade II listed and Scheduled Ancient Monuments.
